Wolverhampton: Strong Power

Clocked a sensational 21.58s sectional when winning at Lingfied to earn a massive sectional adjusted speed rating. Was once rated 86 so not necessarily a fluke.

The clockwatchers (of which I am one) have gone mad for Strong Power and it will be interesting to see what price he goes off at. His win at Lingfield on Monday was remarkable. His closing sectional was 21.58s almost a second quicker than the next best. The track wasn’t riding super fast and therefore to dip under the 22s barrier takes some doing, especially for a horse rating 70!

The big question is can he recreate this run. I think he can. He already impressed at Southwell from a poor draw and hasn’t been with Alice Haynes that long. Go back a few years and he was rated 86 and he hit a big speed figure when winning at Kempton on 9 October 2020. He was rated 75 that day and ran to a similair level off 65 two days ago.

There’s enough to suggest this wasn’t an outlier and he can go in again, in what admittedly looks an above average race for the grade.
