Wolverhampton: Starnberg
Couldn't last home when setting a strong pace over 7f at Sandown (winner potentially smart). Make sense to drop him in trip and perfectly drawn for a prominent ride from stall 1.
Starnberg has been highly tried in two starts to date and both were decent performances. Last time out he was beaten 9.5 lengths by Flying Honours but that horse has Derby pretentions and the race was turned into a stamina test.
Starnberg set a very strong pace over Sandown’s stiff 7f but he was bang there, still travelling strongly with two furlongs to go. His fellow pacesetter dropped away (beaten 15 lengths) but Starnberg plugged on for second.
It there makes sense to drop him back in trip and again ride him prominently but with more chance of lasting home. Stall 1 at Wolverhampton is ideal for this and he looks a great bet.
