Winter Derby Trial: Global Giant
Record on the all-weather is 211 and has a devastating turn of foot. Covered the final 2f at Wolverhampton (albeit off steady gallop) in 21.98s the fastest from last 1850 runners.
John Gosden enjoyed great success on the all-weather with Wissahickon last season and he could have another middle-distance start in Global Giant. He’s only had one start for new connections but it was a fantastic performance.
Slowly into stride, Global Giant was in rear of a steadily run race but he showed a devastating turn of foot to cover the final 2f in 21.98s. Dipping below the 22s barrier is impressive at Lingfield but this was at Wolverhampton!
His is the fastest closing sectional from the last 1850 runners at Wolverhampton and although a product of the steady early gallop, you don’t clock such a fast sectional without being smart. His record on the all-weather is 211 and although he will have the sectionalistas in a lather; it is merited.
