Windsor Tip: Tom’s Rock

Windsor Tip: Tom’s Rock

Previous course and distance winner who was better than margin of victory and only up 3lbs.

The 3.00 Windsor is a tricky handicap but I like the chances of Tom’s Rock. He finished last season strongly, winning over course and distance and showing a good attitude in the process.

He displayed a good turn of foot, to quicken off a steady gallop and then showed great courage to battle through a shrinking gap on the rail. He is 3lbs higher this afternoon but was better than the margin of victory.

Despite it still being early April, the clerk of the course has decided to water in the build up to this meeting and that won’t inconvenience Tom’s Rock.

Tom Queally has an excellent 21% strike rate (9-43) for John Butler and it might be instructive that he chose Windsor, rather than follow John Butler’s other runner Rayaa (who I think has a good chance) to Redcar. Although it must be noted that Queally might also have some good outside rides at the Berkshire venue.
