Twilight Of Turf Season

Twilight Of Turf Season

Big speed rating in Sprint Cup needs adjusting upwards considering the strong pace he tracked. Remains unbeaten.

Three-year-olds have won the Champion Sprint Stakes four times in the last ten years but the headline figure can be misleading. Taking into account the performances of all three-year-olds in the race, they have only beaten 50% of their rivals, which is no better than average.

Being from the younger generation is neither an advantage nor a disadvantage but I’m still drawn to the 3-year-old crop. Muhaarar has shown his class by taking three Group 1 sprints this season but he might be vulnerable on the good to soft ground.

Twilight Son started the season rated 83 but the unbeaten son of Kyllachy is the up and coming star of the sprint scene.

He took the Group 1 Haydock Sprint Cup last time out on good to soft ground and is better suited by the conditions this weekend.

Henry Candy’s sprinter earned a whopping Topspeed rating of 110 last time out but the figure actually deserves upgrading. Twilight Son tracked a strong pace throughout and his finishing speed of 98.35% was slightly slower than par.

If ridden with more restraint, he could improve on what was already a very fast time.

Back him at 11/2 with Paddy Power and if he finishes second to the SP favourite (likely to be Muhaarar) we get our money back as a free bet (£25 max).
