Triumph Hurdle Tips: Calipto

Earmarked for the Triumph since the start of the season and the manner of his victories to date suggest he will go close.

Paul Nicholls has won the JCB Triumph twice in the last six years and he always tends to have a good horse in the race.

Calipto is his only runner but he deserves to be favourite. He’s won twice this season, both times at Newbury in strong-looking races for the grade.

Last time out he cruised to victory on ground that was softer than ideal and he should relish a strong gallop on good ground at Cheltenham.

Earlier in the season, Nicholls called Calipto his ‘best juvenile’ and nothing he’s done since has warranted a revision of that opinion.

4/1 is available with bookmakers but I suggest placing the best at 7/2 with Paddy Power who are refunding losing stakes if your horse finishes 2nd or 3rd in the race.
