Top Boy At Goodwood
Top Boy is 7lbs better off with the favourite for a half-length defeat and his form has improved since then.
Double Up heads the betting in the 4.20 Goodwood but taking a direct line with the favourite, there is no way Top Boy should be 12/1 (Sportingbet).
Half a length separated the pair when they last met at Newmarket, but Top Boy is 7lbs better off this afternoon and his form has improved since.
Top Boy was only beaten a head last time and was unlucky the way the race panned out. The pace was no more than solid and Derek Shaw’s sprinter had to come from behind on a track that suited front-runners.
In defeat, the 5-year-old ran the fastest closing sectional of the race and earned an adjusted speed rating of 80. Racing off a mark of 84, he looks well treated and should get the strong pace he needs from the big field.
