Thirsk Tips: Mukaynis
Finished second at Pontefract but the race was stolen from him 2f out after Silvanus was given an enterprising ride.
Mukaynis joined Kevin Ryan last autumn and he’s done nothing but progress since.
He’s won three of his nine UK starts and has finished second on his last two outings.
At Pontefract, his jockey got caught napping 2f out as Silvanus quickened off a steady pace.
Silvanus quickly pulled out a 2-length lead and although Mukaynis ran the fastest closing sectional he couldn’t reel in the winner and was beaten by 0.75 lengths.
Despite the stuttering gallop, the overall race time was good for the grade and Mukaynis should be rated at least alongside the winner given his closing burst.
This afternoon he drops down in grade for the 3.00 Thirsk and can gain compensation.
