Career best came in similar conditions last year and is drawn near the pace.
Monday’s racing looks mundane compared to last week’s action but there are still betting opportunities to be had.
The 6.50 Thirsk is an ordinary handicap but with 20-runners, there could be a split in the field.
It’s rare to see runners on the far side in Thirsk sprints but a low draw could be favourable this evening with front-runners Pavers Star and Fathom Five drawn in stalls three and four.
If the early pace is slow then Gambino could be carried into the race from gate 7. The 4-year-old is yet to win but his career best came on good to firm ground over 6f at Carlisle last year.
He’s rarely had his ideal conditions since and at 50/1 (Betfred) he’s a fair each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-4 finish.
