Thirsk Tips: Compton Poppy
Clocked 10th fastest closing sectional from last 887 runners at Chepstow, putting up a big speed figure in a maiden.
During her short career, Compton Poppy has run three clunkers and one blinder, it gives her an awkward profile but I was so impressed by her win at Chepstow I must give her another chance.

The maiden she took in Wales was nothing special on paper but it stood out on the clock. She ran the fastest closing sectional in the race by 0.64s and the tenth best closing split for the last 887 runners at the track.
She didn’t build on that performance at Chelmsford but perhaps didn’t handle the Polytrack surface. At Chepstow, I gave her an adjusted speed rating of 93 and although that might be an aberration she could be extremely well handicapped off 77 if returning to that level of form.
