Thirsk Tip: The Armed Man
Still a maiden after 13 starts but eye-catching closer last time at Catterick, coming from rear with fast sectional.
The Armed Man is 0/13 and given his running style might be something of a dodge-pot, finishing fast when the race is over but he’s relatively lightly raced and has ability.
So far this season he’s finished 42 and I was impressed by the way he quickened off a strong gallop last time at Catterick.
In the 8.45 Thirsk, he steps up to 6f (5f last time) and that extra furlong might be what he needs because last time he was the fastest closer by 0.58s.
For a horse rated 59 his speed ratings are good (adjusted 67 last time) and as long as he doesn’t get boxed in from stall 20, he could run a big race.
