Thirsk Tip: Little Miss Lola
Pressed a strong pace at Pontefract last time but raced very wide and extra distance covered eventually told at the end.
Racing three wide around a bend is never a good way to conserve energy. Doing that around a bend where the rail has been dolled out adding an extra 8 yards to the race is verging on disastrous.
Unfortunately, that is what happened to Little Miss Lola last time out at Pontefract. From stall 8 she was posted wide throughout the race and although the tracking data doesn’t exist I doubt any horse covered more ground than her.
Combine the extra distance with a strong pace and it is no surprise she tired at the finish. To her credit she was only beaten 3.25 lengths and after adjusting for pace she earned a good speed rating (70) for the grade.
In the 5.30 Thirsk she drops down in grade and having run well on the track in May she should go well again.
