Thirsk: Bedford Flyer

Won two races at 5f on all-weather, impressing on clock before not staying a strongly run (and high quality) 6f race. Gone well at Thirsk before so every chance he translates improvements to turf.

Bedford Flyer won twice on the all-weather over the winter, impressing on the clock when beating Nelson Gay (winner next time). Connections tried him at 6f last time and he didn’t run a bad race, finishing fourth behind some good horses (Diligent Harry won on Finals Day) but after setting a strong pace he was a sitting duck and i’m pleased to see him revert to the minimum trip.

The big question is whether Bedford Flyer can translate his improved form onto turf and it might be significant that he makes his return on grass at Thirsk, a track he’s run well on twice before, including a second place finish. At the price he is worth the risk.
