Sun Shines On Winston
Sunbaked has shown glimpses of ability in her short career and is Robert Winston’s only ride of the day.
Sunbaked was hugely disappointing when I tipped her at Lingfield a fortnight ago but looking at the replay there were excuses.
She stumbled quite badly leaving the gates, almost dumping Tom Queally on the floor. It meant she lost valuable ground but perhaps also hurt itself during the incident, which is why she weakened at the finish.
One takeaway from that result is that Tom Queally has a wretched 3% strike rate (2-66) for Eve Johnson Houghton, perhaps the jockey/trainer combination is best ignored from a betting perspective.
Robert Winston takes the ride for the 2.55 Wolverhampton and is an altogether more eye-catching booking. This is only his fourth ride for Eve Johnson Houghton over the past five seasons and his only engagement this afternoon.
Sunbaked showed enough ability when an unlucky second on the 18 November to suggest she is capable of taking a low grade handicap and perhaps this is the day to catch her at 10/1 (Bet365).
