Sun Shines For Taajub

Sun Shines For Taajub

Unsuited by the soft going last time but a hot day at Sandown should dry the ground in his favour. Well drawn.

My tip for the 3.25 Sandown is heavily weather dependant but fortunately I’m writing this just down the round from Sandown racecourse.

On the sprint course the going is good to soft, good in places but the sun is already baking the track and the temperature is 21C at just 9.30am. With the mercury forecast to hit 28C I’d be surprised if the going didn’t at least change to ‘good’.

All this weather watching is crucial to the chances of Taajub in the 3.25 contest. Last time out his trainer said he was unsuited by the soft going at Ascot, even though he was only beaten 2.75 lengths.

Previously he’d been beaten by the draw at Ascot (finished 2/18) and was hampered when third over course and distance.

The 8-year-old is in great form, races off a winnable mark and has a good draw. At 8/1 (William Hill) he is a cracking bet.
