Sun Chariot Tips: Alice Springs
Clocked third fastest closing sectional of the season at Leopardstown (826 runners) and her third speed rating of 100+ from last four starts.
It’s been an up and down season for Alice Springs but at her best she is a very good filly indeed. Her last six starts have come at Group 1 level, two of those have been wins and impressive ones at that.
Last time out she showed an impressive turn of foot to come from first to last in under two furlongs at Leopardstown. Her closing sectional was a rapid 24.35s, the third fastest at the track this season out of 826 runners. To put it into context she was only 0.21s slower over the final 2f than the brilliant Almanzor, winner of the Irish Champion stakes later on the card.
If you take her form from Royal Ascot it’s actually been very solid. She was unlucky to lose the Coronation Stakes when she didn’t get the clearest of runs from the rear and made up for it with an easy win in the Falmouth Stakes.
The one blot on her copy book was in the Prix Rothschild at Deauville but the run was so bad something must have been amiss. Her record at Newmarket is 4131 and we should expect another bold run.
