Southwell: Zylan
Course and distance record is 111213434 and does his winning after Christmas. Not been seeing out his races over 7f but steps back to his ideal trip of 6f and handicapper given him a chance.
Zylan loves Southwell, having won 6/20 on the Fibresand but he hasn’t been at his best of late. An obvious excuse is the fact he’s been running over 7f, when he is better over today’s trip of 6f but there is a more subtle reason.
It might be a coincidence but Zylan is 0/8 during Oct/Nov/Dec during his career but the new year brings about a change in fortune; Roger Fell’s gelding is 4/17 in Jan/Feb/Mar. As I say this could be completely meaningless.
His course and distance record is 111213434 and most of his career has been spent racing in this grade or higher. He needs to improve on recent efforts but that is possible and maybe even likely.
