Southwell Tips: Wimboldsley
Closed in a rapid 22.3s at Lingfield despite racing in a class 6 handicap. Step up in trip and switch to a more galloping track should suit.
The race at Lingfield in which Wimboldsley finished seventh looks ordinary at face value but the times say something different.
A finishing speed of 107.4% suggests it was run at a steady early pace but the leaders recorded rapid closing 2f sectionals, even tacking into account the fast track.
Wimboldsley was third best after closing in 22.3s but he wasn’t’ hard ridden and didn’t seem to handle the sharp track, which is understandable for a big imposing horse.
He strikes me as more of a galloper and therefore a switch to Fibresand is a logical step.
He lacks early pace therefore a step up to 7f should also be in his favour and although inconsistent, he’s won once this year and the opposition are moderate.
