Southwell Tips: Pearl Noir

His early pace is ideally suited to the Fibresand and has a favourable draw in the centre of the track.

I’ve been waiting several months for Pearl Noir to get on the Fibresand and despite showing his hand five days ago at Kempton, his price is holding up well in the 3.00 Southwell.

On several occasions this autumn he’s gone tearing off in front but not quite got home. It is a type of running style ideally suited to Southwell’s 5f course, which is sharp and favours those ridden prominently.

Last time out at Kempton he was given a good front-running ride, grabbing the rail from a wide draw. He made all to win by three lengths but he didn’t get a ‘soft’ lead. His finishing speed was approximately 100% of the overall speed, which shows he went a solid gallop throughout.

Well drawn in the middle of the track he should be able to overcome a penalty and win at 4/1 (William Hill).
