Southwell Tips: New Road Side
Easy winner over course and distance on debut. Not returned to Southwell since but has a good draw and early pace to burn.
The return of racing at Southwell is always an exciting moment for all-weather aficionados and we have a fascinating sprint to get stuck into at 1.55.
Being drawn in the middle is never a bad place on Southwell’s straight-track and in stall 8, New Road Side could run a big race.
Since moving the Richard Guest she has finished 218 but last time out she was faced with unseasonal fast ground and perhaps didn’t enjoy herself as much as when winning over the same course and distance on going rated soft.
It seems the 3-year-old is best with cut and I’m excited to see her race on the Fibresand again. Back in April 2015 she impressed on debut winning easily over course and distance. She’s not raced on the surface since but her blistering early pace makes her an ideal Fibresand horse.
An official mark of 78 slightly under plays he ability and Connor Beasley stops off at Southwell for just one ride before travelling to Chelmsford in the evening.
