Southwell Tips: Captain Lars
Landed a gamble at Wolverhampton by running the 11th fastest closing sectional at the track from the last 6718 runners and has won at Southwell before.
Captain Lars was backed as if defeat was out the question last time and he delivered on the weight of money with a hugely impressive victory.
Betting Bias followers were tipped up to his talents early in the day and although we risk giving back some of our winnings, judged solely on ability we must keep Captain Lars on side.
John Egan enjoyed a charmed run through the field at Wolverhampton but he had an able assistant. Captain Lars quickened off a solid gallop to clock an eye-wateringly fast 22.4s closing sectional. The 11th fastest at the track from the last 6718 runners.
In the 3.00 Southwell, he faces a different test but he’s won on Fibresand before (over a mile) and should be able to replicate his Tapeta form.
I gave Captain Lars an adjusted speed rating of 85 for his last win and that means he is incredibly well treated off 76, despite carrying a penalty. Well drawn in the centre of the track he should get a good tow into the race and can win again.
