Southwell Tips: African Blessing
Set overly strong pace from poor draw at Chelmsford and paid for it at finish. Down in grade and well berthed.
African Blessing made a bold bid from the front at Chelmsford last time but he had to work hard to lead from stall 12 and ultimately expended too much energy.
Ben Curtis set a strong gallop but African Blessing was unable to sustain it and his finishing speed was 95.8% of his average race speed; indicative of a pace collapse.
From a better draw, in a lower grade and on a track that suits front-runners his chances are much improved and a rare foray into class 6 company can produce rewards.
