Southwell Tip: Eccleston
Useful sprint handicapper who has slipped down the weights despite running respectably this winter. Makes Fibresand debut.
When he was with David O’Meara and Richard Fahey, I thought Eccleston was going to turn into a useful sprint handicap so it’s slightly surprising to see him slumming it at Southwell in the depths of winter.
This is his Fibresand debut and there is a danger he doesn’t take to the surface but he’s best with cut on turf so might not be inconvenienced by the slowest artificial surface. Rated 81, this is his lowest ever mark and he’s not often seen at this level.
He’s run respectably in two spins at Newcastle and Wolverhampton and Southwell might be third time lucky.
