Southwell Tip: Clouded Gold

Michael Appleby has a superb 19% strike-rate at Southwell and he’s the man to follow in the 3.50 contest.

Clouded Gold has been disappointing in his races to date but he is lightly raced for a 5-year-old and the Fibresand might prove his best surface. He’s raced twice at Southwell before, finishing a best of sixth but that was over 6f after racing wide and the drop in trip might suit.

He showed plenty of early pace over the minimum trip at Newcastle last time out and he might be hard to peg back if hitting the front early again.
