Southwell Suits Cool Silk Boy

Southwell Suits Cool Silk Boy

Finished a tired fourth when lit up by first time blinkers in December but has the early speed to be a success at the track.

Racing prominently is an advantage on the Fibresand at Southwell and there aren’t many who can match Cool Silk Boy’s early speed.

Last time he raced over course and distance he covered the first 2f in a blistering 22.91s. Unfortunately, lit up by first time blinkers he went off too quick and couldn’t see the race out.

Cool Silk Boy’s finishing speed was 96.9% of the average race speed, which meant he tired even over this short trip.

The headgear is discarded for the 1.45 Southwell and if Paul Mulrennan can apportion his mount’s energy more evenly, we should see a better performance.

As a two-year-old, he won over today’s course and distance in a good time for the grade and he can leave his recent form behind at a track that suits.
