Southwell: Requinto Dawn
Winner over course and distance two starts back. Poor run last time but might have bounced or is simply inconsistent. Either way he is weighted to win and capable of doing so.
It’s a four horse race for the 5.45 Southwell and of the quartet i’m siding with Requinto Dawn. His strike rate of 3/40 is disappointing and he’s never lived up to his early promise but he is capable and is weighted to win. You can see why connections have run out of patience with him but he’d attract interest in the claims box for sure.
Two starts back he won a class 5 handicap over course and distance and although he disappointed at the track on his last start he was drawn in stall 1 (never ideal over 6f) and potentially bounced after his big effort to win off a break.
It might be that he’s simply inconsistent but the highs are enough for him to be my pick.
