Southwell: Politics

Change of yard seems to have done the trick and won over course and distance with good speed rating for the grade. Still well handicapped off mark of 67 because at his best he's an 80+ horse.

The Horse Watchers are a shrewd operation and Politics looks another great value purchase. Rated in the 80s this time last year he lost form for Phillip Makin and his handicap mark tumbled as a result. Not for the first time Mick Appleby has revitalised a horse and he duly won on his second start for new connections of a mark of 63.

That win came over course and distance, with a good speed rating for the grade. Still well handicapped off a mark of 67 he can go in again. It wasn’t long ago that he was contesting class 4 handicaps at this track, battling solid yardsticks like Tipperary Tiger.
