Southwell: Ornate
Twice run well over course in distance in higher grade. Found himself drawn away from the action in stall 1 on both those occasions and higher draw could make the difference.
Ornate has run two nice races over course and distance finished second and third over the festive period, with his December run eye-catching on the clock. Both those runs came in class 3 company and now he drops down to class 4 company, albeit against many of the same horses.
The difference is the draw. On his last two starts he’s come out of stall 1 and ended up racing away from the pace. Stall 6 offers a different challenge but it might mean he is closer to the action allowing him to turn good runs into a win.
