Southwell: Giogiobbo
Finished third in a hot Newcastle handicap last week and slightly unlucky; didn't get clear run, which was delivered wider than ideal. Loves a straight track and has 6f stamina if track rides slow.
I’m not usually beating the doors down to bet a Scott Dixon runner but Giogiobbo fits the bill in the 6.45 Southwell. The horses is at his best on a straight track and has proved effective over both 5f and 6f; stamina which may come in useful if the track rides slow again.
Speaking of the track it’s too early to conclude if stall 1 is a good or a bad draw but low drawn runners did place over course and distance earlier in the week. The big reason why I like Giogiobbo is his performance at Newcastle seven days ago. He finished third in what looked a very strong race for the grade and the time on the clock backs that up.
It’s hard to predict the Dixon runners one race to the next but if he’s found some form, he is off a winnable mark on a track that should suit.
