Southwell Draw To Favour Pabusar

Could benefit from a draw bias that seems to have developed at the track over the last month.

Over the last month I’ve been wondering if Southwell’s old draw bias has reappeared on the 5f track. Since the start of February, these have been the starting stalls of the first two horses home:

3-4
2-3
5-4
2-1
5-1
3-2
1-2

At this point I should mention several caveats. The sample size is very small, it doesn’t take into account field size, or the ability of the horses. However, it is interesting to note nothing higher than stall five has finished inside the top-2.

If there is a draw bias at play then it is worth taking a chance on Pabusar at 14/1 (Boylesports).

This time last year he was rated in the 100s but a lack of form has seen him tumble down the weights to a mark of 72, but there has been the odd glimmer of hope.

He was only beaten 0.75 lengths in a class 3 handicap at York during the summer and on the all-weather he’s finished in the top-half of the field in two 5f sprints at Kempton.

He is having his second start for Ann Stokell and the change in scenery might bring about some improvement. Blinkers are on for the first time in over a year and from a good draw he might bounce back.
