Silver Lining At Kempton

Silver Lining At Kempton

Silver Mountain has run better than the bare form of his recent defeats at Kempton and drops down in grade this evening.

It wasn’t that long ago that Silver Mountain was racking up a quick-fire double at Kempton and he shouldn’t be 20/1 (Bet365) for the 8.20 contest.

We can forget his last run at Chester, it was his first start on turf and he probably didn’t like it.

Instead we should focus on his recent defeats at Kempton over 2 miles.

On the 4 June, he walked out the stalls, forfeiting ground he could never make up and it was a similar story on the 15 April. Held-up in rear he could never settle behind the pedestrian gallop (117% finishing speed) and was poorly positioned for the sprint home.

Crucially, he ran good closing sectionals in both races, much better than his finishing position indicated.

This evening he drops down in grade and if Joe Fanning can get him to settle, his finishing kick might be too strong.
