Goodwood Zodiac was given an easy time from a hopeless position but still managed to run the fastest closing sectional.
There are plenty of likely improvers in the 6.40 Epsom but the bookmakers seem to have underestimated the chances of Goodwood Zodiac.
An eighth place finish on debut at Windsor might look uninspiring but he ran much better than the bare form.
After a steady start, he soon found himself in arrears and in a steadily run race he was left with too much ground to make up.
Adam Kirby gave Goodwood Zodiac a sympathetic ride when his chances were gone but the horse seemed to rally of his own accord and ran the fastest closing sectional of the race.
The overall time was modest but there was enough encouragement to suggest he will improve for the experience. At 8/1 (Bet365) he is not without hope.
