Sandown Tips: Derek Duval
Improved since being gelded over winter and unlucky when close third last time out. Might be ahead of handicap mark.
Derek Duval doesn’t have many miles on the clock, the 3.10 Sandown is his fourth start and there might be a bit of headroom in his mark of 74.
Since being gelded over the winter he has finished first and third, running fair speed ratings both times. On his last start at Wolverhampton he was slightly unlucky to finish a close third, he had to wait to make his run and came wider than ideal.
The small factors were probably the difference between winning and losing because he was only beaten a neck and ran the fastest closing sectional. It remains to be seen how he takes to turf but he might be slightly better than this grade.
