Sandown Tip: Operative
Well drawn and won off a 3lbs lower mark over course and distance almost a year ago. Showed bright early pace over 6f last time and drop in trip helps.
Operative put in a career best performance when winning over course and distance almost a year ago and from a 3lbs lower mark he should go close. In stall 2, he has a lovely draw to stalk the pace and he’s been successful in this grade before.
Last time out he set a strong gallop at Windsor before fading at the finish. That was over 6f and a drop to 5f should help him see out the race better, two of his three wins have come over the minimum trip.
Jamie Spencer taking the ride is another positive and he should be shorter in the betting.
