Ruby A Real Gem

Chelmsford Racing: Ruby Wednesday A Real Gem

Ruby Wednesday was slightly unfortunate when beaten a nose, the winner got first run but she ran the fastest closing sectional in defeat.

The 7.40 Chelmsford is a weak looking maiden and only Ruby Wednesday has really shown any ability. She took a while to get going on her last start but eventually rattled home to just fail by a nose.

Undone by a combination of a steady pace and the inadequate 7f, she still showed a turn of foot by running a 34.58s closing sectional, the fastest in the race by 0.57s.

She should learn from the experience and it is good to see her stepping up in trip this evening as it took her a while to get rolling at Kempton.

John Best enjoyed a productive 2016 firing in 35 winners and seems to be getting a better calibre of horse to go to war with.
