Royal Ascot Tips: Smoothtalkinrascal
Impressive winner despite racing down the unfavoured stand’s rail at Leicester.
With pace spread all over the track there shouldn’t be many hard luck stories in the 5.35 Royal Ascot. This is good news for my selection Smoothtalkinrascal who could have been disadvantaged starting from stall one. With the favourite Lyric Ace nearby in stall 7, it might even turn out to be a good draw.
In these 2-year-old races, you are betting on potential and having reviewed the video form of all the runners, Smoothtalkinrascal impressed me the most. A ready three-length winner, he barely came off the bridle whilst his rivals were hard-ridden behind him.
Visually impressive, I was more encouraged that he won having raced down the unfavoured stand’s rail at Leicester. The rail helps inexperienced horses run straight, but it is usually the slowest part of the track. Smoothtalkinrascal may have overcome a strong draw bias, despite his comfortable win. He could be much better than the bare form at 9/1 with William Hill.
