Royal Ascot Tips: Hathal
The least experienced runner in the field but ran a blistering closing sectional at Lingfield and has strong form as a two-year-old.
With only two starts under his belt, Hathal is the least experienced runner in the Jersey Stakes (2.30 Ascot) but he doesn’t lack for talent.
William Haggas concedes he’s not had a smooth preparation with the horse, hence his lack of racing but we saw a glimpse of his potential at Lingfield.
The overall time was nothing to get excited about owing to a steady early gallop (106.7% finishing speed) but he ran the final 2f in a rapid 22.1s, the fastest sectional at the track this season.
He has the change of gears associated with a good horse and he finished second behind Consort (St James’s Palace Stakes third) as a two-year-old.
He is underrated by the market and is a lively outsider at 14/1 (BetVictor).
