Royal Ascot Tips: Dimension

Has run two fine races in defeat at a mile. Well drawn, unexposed and fits the profile of past winners of the race.

The Royal Hunt Cup at 4.25 is typically competitive with several holding good chances but at the prices I’m taken by Dimension.

Looking at the pace chart for the race, the far side looks the place to be and drawn in stall 7, he should get a perfect tow into the race.

A lightly-raced four year old, he has plenty of scope to improve and his last two starts at a mile have been promising. Last time out at Lingfield he took a hefty bump in the straight that cost him momentum, whilst the winner got away. Nevertheless, he showed a tremendous turn of foot to get within 0.75 lengths at the finish.

His previous start over a mile was arguably even more impressive. Back in July last year, he finished three lengths behind Albaasil. That horse is now rated 115, 27lbs higher than when they met.

If Dimension has anything like that sort of improvement in him, he could be very dangerous. With James Fanshawe and Johnny Murtagh enjoying such excellent records at Ascot, he is the horse to be on at 10/1 (Boylesports) each-way with bookmakers paying 1/4 odds for a top-5 finish.
