Norfolk Tips: Mukhmal

His win at Chester was comparable to that of a 100+ rated sprinter; normally good enough to go close in the Norfolk.

A select bunch line-up for the Norfolk Stakes (2.30) but there are three horses at the head of the market I’m happy to oppose.

To Be Determined is likely to be over bet after Wesley Ward won the Windsor Castle Stakes on Tuesday and she’s not shown much in the States.

The Great War’s price is prohibitive although he may go on and win. Whilst Baitha Alga wasn’t that impressive at Epsom.

He got a soft lead and his sectionals weren’t particularly fast. Compared to the class 2 handicap later on the card he was 1.58s slower in getting to the path and 0.55s slower down the home straight. Considering the pace was sluggish, I’d have expected something better.

That leaves Mukhmal as the most likely winner and I believe he is better than the price.

At Chester he ran a race almost identical to Masamah’s (rated 102) in the conditions event late on the card.

Both horses covered the final 2f in approximately 25s and that reflects well on Mukhmal considering he is only a 2-year-old.
