King's Stand Tips: Ardhoomey

King's Stand Tips: Ardhoomey

Getting better with age and has run two crackers this season. Fastest closer when close second to Acapulco at the Curragh.

Marsha and Lady Aurelia make up a large chunk of the market for the King’s Stand but the race is more open than people think, especially with 17 runners scheduled to go to post.

There are at least half a dozen with realistic chances of winning and it’s a race to get the top-two in the market beat. At long odds i’m particularly taken by Ardhoomey.

Like many sprinters he’s taken a while to mature and the 5-year-old seems to have stepped up a level this season. At Navan he was only beaten a neck by Washington DC despite conceding a fitness advantage and 2lbs.

Ardhoomey again finished second on his next start at the Curragh, this time finishing half a length behind the beast that is Acapulco. It was a fine run especially when you examine the sectionals.

Ardhoomey was in rear of a steadily run affair and let the leaders get first run. He actually came home quickest of all his 34.09s split was 0.11s faster than Acapulco and the sixth fastest closing sectional at the track from the last 2186 runners (measured from 3f out). Underrated by the market he could spring a surprise.
