King’s Stand Stakes: Pearl Secret
Has finished third and fourth in the King’s Stand but finally gets the genuine soft ground he needs.
Pearl Secret’s record in the King’s Stand (3.40 Ascot) is 304 but for the first time he’s got the soft ground he craves.

He is a much better horse with cut and I’d argue his 8th place finish in last year’s Nunthorpe was actually on good ground based on time analysis.
On all known form he is well held by Mecca’s Angel but only 2.5 lengths separated them at Haydock last month and Pearl Secret raced much further back than the first two home. His closing sectional was actually 0.14s quicker than Mecca’s Angel and only 0.06 slower than Profitable, who won the race.
There is a good chance Pearl Secret will come on for the run and having gone well at Ascot in the past he is a shade big at 10/1, especially with Skybet going 1/5 odds for a top-5 finish.
