Diamond Jubilee Tips: Aljamaaheer

A smart miler who is an excellent recruit to the sprinting division. Unlucky to lose the Abernant on his last start.

The 4.25 Ascot isn’t a particularly strong renewal of the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and a new recruit to the sprinting ranks can stamp his authority on the race.

Aljamaaheer was a smart miler (winner at Group 2 level) in his previous incarnation but he showed plenty of speed on his last start at Newmarket.

He blew the start in the Abernant and was forced to race in the rear, the worst possible position in a steadily run race. Hamza made all at an ordinary gallop, quickening in the final 2f with a finishing speed of 102.8%.

Aljamaaheer showed a great turn of foot to rally from five lengths behind and get within half a length of the winner. He was the moral victor because if there was a strong pace or he’d raced more handily he would have won.

The first time blinkers should help him focus on matters in hand and the Diamond Jubilee is there for the taking at 9/2 (Stan James).
