Ripon Tip: Upstaging
Ran well three starts back but otherwise extremely inconsistent. Dangerously well-handicapped and return of cheek-pieces could be the spark he needs.
Having been rated 100 when racing in the 2018 Wokingham, Upstaging is dangerously well handicapped off a mark of 77 if only he could recapture some old form. Since moving to Noel Wilson there have been five poor runs but there were signs of life when second at Ayr, running a good time for the grade.
The difficulty is predicting when Upstaging is going to come back to life and the key could be headgear. His record when wearing blinkers or cheek-pieces having not worn them on his previous start is 4421 narrow that down to 6f races only and it becomes 421.
Upstaging has cheek-pieces back on for the first time since April and they could provide the necessary spark in a race that otherwise looks ideal.
