Reach For Outer Space
Was a strong finishing fourth at Newmarket on a day it proved difficult to make up ground from off the pace.
Outer Space was one of the big eye-catchers at Newmarket’s July Festival making up significant ground from the rear at a meeting where I believe there was a pace bias that favoured prominent racers.
Outer Space came from the rear to finish a close fourth, running the fastest sectional of the race and getting to within 0.25 lengths of the winner despite an inefficient use of energy.
His final 2f was 105.7% of his average race speed, which means he was finishing faster than par and probably in need of a stronger overall gallop.
He should get that in the 5.30 Goodwood with 16 runners scheduled to go to post and is a good bet at 12/1 (Betfair Sportsbook).
