Queen Mary: Carmela

Carlisle form was franked by Cold Case on Saturday and the speed rating of that win suggests this is a smart filly. Drawn amongst the main protagonists and overpriced.
On Saturday I wrote about how highly I rated Cold Case; he duly did the business at York and i’m following that line of form. He was beaten at Carlisle by Carmela (carrying a penalty) and the speed ratings of that race was huge.
At face value wins at Carlisle and Yarmouth (on debut) don’t scream Royal Ascot filly but consistently high speed ratings tell us a different story. This is a juvenile with bags of ability and her ungainly running style suggests there still improvement to come as David Loughnane smooths her rough edges. Connections sound bullish (don’t they all!) in the lead up to Royal Ascot and she has a better chance than her odds would suggest.
She is drawn amongst the protagonists, I rate Dramatised the most likely winner with All The Time next best and she should run a big race. I wouldn’t put anyone off and each-way bet with extra places available but i’m going for the jugular with a win only punt.
