Portland Handicap Tip: Hakam

Portland Handicap Tip: Hakam

Drying ground in his favour and has displayed a good turn of foot off a strong gallop before. This just his type of race.

Hakam has missed his last two engagements on account of the soft ground, he is also 0/6 on turf but despite those two rather negative facts, I still like his chances in the Portland (1.50 Doncaster.)

The weather forecast suggests it will be dry in the build up to the race and with the going no worse than good to soft, there is a chance it could be good come Saturday lunchtime.

The 5-year-old has the type of profile that looks ideal for a big sprint handicap. He is lightly raced, can quicken off a strong gallop and is reasonably well handicapped. Last time out at Ascot he was the fastest closer by 0.45s and although he didn’t win he earned an adjusted speed rating of 97.

Cheek-pieces are on for the first time and Lewis Edmunds is excellent value for his claim. It look like connections have thrown everything at him and the could be rewarded.
