Pontefract Trips: Ormskirk
Drop to 6f on a turning track could be the making of him. Trainer and jockey have teamed up to good effect this season.
Ormskirk was a comfortable winner last time out at Catterick and should run well on another turning track in the 2.35 Pontefract.
The key to the horse could be a drop down to 6f, he’d previously been tried over 7f but has the pace to race handily over a shorter distance.
He’s been given an opening mark of 79 but having earned a Racing Post Rating of 75 last time without been fully extended, he should remain competitive.
Richard Fahey has an excellent 23% strike-rate (15-64) with his juveniles at the track and Jack Garrity is a positive jockey booking.
The young apprentice has a 22% strike rate (10-46) on Fahey’s two-year-olds this year making Ormskirk is a good bet at 8/1 (William Hill).
