Palace House Stake: Shades Of Blue

Runner-up to subsequent Abbaye winner in France and her record at the minimum trip is 132120. Excuses for last defeat but overall profile is that of a talented sprinter on the up.

The 1.50 Newmarket has a wide-open feel about it but there’s some value in the market. There a numerous horses trying to make the step-up from handicap company but most are exposed and I don’t see how they are going to make the leap.

Ironically Hareem Queen is one that should be racing in a handicap but connections are aiming high with their 96-rated filly. She came from a desperate position to win at Lingfield and derserves to take her chance her. I’m keeping the fillies onside in this race and I really like the chances of Shades Of Blue.

Her career record over 5f is 132120 with the only blot coming in the Prix de l’Abbaye when she was badly drawn and not suited by the very soft conditions. Scrap that run and her form is excellent. She was unfortunate to be pipped on the line in the Prix du Petit Couvert by subsequent Abbaye winner Glass Slippers and might have held on if better drawn.

The improved throughout 2019 and if continuing on that trajectory could be a Group sprinter this season.
