Nottingham Tips: Maakaasib
Went too fast in soft conditions at Haydock but on a quicker surface with the rail to race again he might get home.
Maakaasib is one of two 3-year-olds in the 4.35 Nottingham and his unexposed profile could mean he is ahead of the handicapper. His results in 2017 wouldn’t suggest this but last time out at Haydock he was better than his sixth place position suggests.
Racing on soft ground for the first time (with first time eye-shield) he set an overly strong pace (97.9% finishing speed) and tired badly in the final furlong, losing several places.
Beaten only 3.75 lengths he earned a fair adjusted speed rating of 71 and has more suitable conditions in Nottingham. Drawn in stall 12 he has the stand’s rail to race against and on a quicker surface (although rain forecast) he might stay in the lead for longer and perhaps even win.
