Nottingham Tips: Docofthebay

Beaten by a succession of poor draws but proved a useful sprinter when winning a Listed contest last November.

Having spent a large part of his career rated in the high 90s, Docofthebay is dropping down the handicap to a mark where he should win again. He also reverts to 6f for the 4.10 Nottingham and although 8-years-old, he has the ability to reinvent himself as a sprinter.

Last November he managed to win a Listed race at 6f on the all-weather, the biggest victory of his career. It is no surprise trainer Scott Dixon has persisted with a sprint campaign.

Docofthebay ran a cracking race back in April, when overcoming the strong draw bias at Doncaster to finish fourth. He was the second highest finisher of those drawn in single figures, a length behind King of Jazz who went on to finish third in the valuable Victoria Cup on his next start.

Beaten again by the draw at Pontefract, Docofthebay hasn’t enjoyed much luck this year. There should be no excuses from a good draw today. At 10/1 (William Hill) he is overpriced.
